Chris Perez, Lab Test Technician, “My job is very interesting and very rewarding. TEDA TPCO America are good people. They take care of their employees.”
Chris has been employed with TEDA TPCO America for a little over a year as a Lab Test Technician. He starts his day by assessing and gathering his personal protective equipment as safety is paramount in his work space. After making sure all job safety analysis sheets are properly filled out and that the team has signed them, Chris then moves on to the enterprise resource planning system to determine incoming tubular casing samples that have come from the plant and to plan the day with his colleagues. “When we get busy, we get into the zone. I feel enthusiastic when I come to the plant,” Chris says, “Every day, I ask myself what I can do to make myself more productive.”
Chris served in the US Army for 3 years and saw combat in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Using his GI Bill, which provides educational assistance to service members, Chris pursued his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Chris says it was quite a journey to land the job that he loved.
A Corpus Christi, Texas native and graduate of W.B. Ray High School, Chris spends his spare time with his loving family: daughter Jedy, 16, who is on the Ray High School Tex- Ann drill team, son Luke, 10, daughter Lorelai, 7 and wife Ganelle, a stay at home mom. They enjoy taking in everything Corpus Christi has to offer with walks downtown and visits to the Art Museum of South Texas and attending Buc Days, where they won several gold fish last year.
